Meet the Groundhog! To celebrate Groundhog Day, we've decided to make Marmota monax our featured animal for the month of February! Here are some interesting (and some silly) facts about this famous February female or fellow: Groundhogs can grow up to 32 inches long, and can weigh up to 30 pounds! Groundhogs are mostly herbivorous, meaning they mainly eat wild grass, berries and other vegetation. They might look cuddly - but they're NOT! Never get too close to one. "Punxsutawney Phil", the official weather-predicting groundhog, appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show in 1995! As many as 30,000 people have traveled to Gobblers Knob to watch Phil make his prediction!
